The 1st minutes say ONE VOICE

The small, initial meeting was held with the group and teachers looking over the possibility of helping teachers and children provide a more positive environment for learning. Much was discussed on how to achieve the possibilities.

February 2020 1:00pm-3:30pm

  • It was discussed about repairing the school into a suitable environment for the children.
  • What should happen first is the roof and ceiling repair due to heavy rain leaking through the roof and rotting the tiles on the ceiling.
  • The floors all needed leveling with cement as it was cracked and broken leaving a tripping hazard.
  • More toilets were desperately needed – possibly 12-14 – the children were using the schools’ next door. Unacceptable.
  • Cement sidewalks were needed for the children – the ground is another tripping accident with uneven ground through the entire school and especially outside the classrooms. It was mentioned that an overhang outside the classrooms from the roof would benefit redirecting the rain also.
  • Leveling of the entire land is needed; the top level runs down towards the primary rooms and inside when the rain is heavy enough. There are no barriers to redirect any of the mud and water.
  • The plan would extend to setting up either cement or rock barriers to prevent the runoff going downhill to the other classrooms.
  • Following the leveling of all the property an outdoor kitchen would prove incalculable to these children who very often go without a meal for an entire day or more. Having a breakfast and/or lunch would be an immense benefit for better education (well known that food feeds the brain), boost health, provide energy, encourages children to attend school. This supports parents to know that the kids will get at least one meal a day.
  • It was determined the next meeting would occur when the Corona Virus19 subsided.
