3 Day Mount Meru Trekking is the best for acclimatization prior to Mount Kilimanjaro climbing. The mountain is the third highest peak in Africa and is the second highest mountain in Tanzania at 4,568m. The mountain is located within Arusha National Park, Tanzania’s gem. This prime location gives trekkers the chance to spot some of the wildlife that inhabits the area.

Mount Meru Trekking has become a popular “warm up” trek for Kilimanjaro climbers. It is indeed the perfect preparation for the Kilimanjaro climb. It offers you an experience of what you can expect on Kili. Most significantly, Mt. Meru requires your body to adapt to the altitude. Mt. Meru is a very rewarding trek in its own right.

It has also a second peak, called Little Meru. Little Meru (3801 m/12533 ft) is generally visited on an acclimatization walk of the second day of your trek. You walk from the Saddle Hut to Little Meru and return.

Mount Meru is a demanding climb; so do not underestimate Mount Meru Trekking!
