Lake Manyara is a protected area in Tanzania located in Manyara near Arusha region. It was established in 1960 by the Tanzania National Parks Authority and covers an area of 325 km2. The word “Manyara” comes from the Mbungwe tribe word “Manyero”, which means the place where animals drink water. So the presence of a lake in the area makes the park known as Lake Manyara.
